Secret's Scout About Jeep's Next SUV

Dodge's Caliber small family car will form the basis for an all-new model from sister company Jeep. Auto Express has learned that parent firm DaimlerChrysler is to create a new SUV on the Caliber platform, and the chassis has been developed to take a four-wheel-drive transmission for that very reason.

The idea of a Jeep soft-roader was previewed on the Compass concept (image), which first appeared at the 2002 Detroit Motor Show. Insiders hint that the car will appear as a 'production-ready concept' this time next year. There's speculation that the newcomer could be badged the Jeep Scout.
