Caddy Opens Villa Thriller

You won't have seen a Cadillac that looks anything like this before. Developed by Italian styling house Bertone, it was one of the stars of this week's Geneva Motor Show.

02nd March 2005

Based on the US company's SRX off-roader chassis, the Villa is a hi-tech tourer designed for 2015. Its tall barn-style doors open out and up from the centre, creating a vast space for easy access. The top edges of each door curve through 90 degrees to meet up in the middle and form the roof.

Meanwhile, the centre console runs the length of the interior, and in the front there's a revolutionary 23-inch monitor that's been created by entertainment expert Bose. It displays information for on-board functions. The dash design is all wood, with no traditional instrument panel in sight. Rear passengers get individual computer screens attached to the back of minimalist front seats. The car rides on 22-inch wheels at the front and 24-inch rims at the back. Power has also been borrowed from the SRX; the Villa uses the 3.6-litre V6 found in the base model.
