A6 Is Europe's No. 1

The Audi A6 is the best new car in Europe! That was the verdict of 10 million readers, 21 magazine editors and a host of racing drivers at the annual Auto 1 awards ceremony in Geneva.

The German car was crowned champ, ahead of the Skoda Octavia and Mercedes SLK. The star-studded event is the traditional climax to the press days of the Swiss motor show, and is attended by hundreds of top executives and celebs.

It's hosted by the Auto Bild Group of European motoring magazines, of which Auto Express is the UK member.


Audi boss Dr Martin Winterkorn collected the award from Auto Bild publishing boss Dr Mathias Doepfner. Citroen's C4 was also honoured - in part by you! Auto Express readers voted it the best new car of the past year, and it also picked up the innovation prize for its lane departure warning system.
