John DeLorean, car industry executive famed for launching own firm and building Ulster factory, has died, aged 80. DMC-12 coupé flopped, and DeLorean faced drugs charges in early Eighties.

The Peugeot factory in Ryton, West Midlands is to end a third production shift and axe 850 jobs this summer. Increased competition in small car market is blamed. Ryton currently makes 206, but won't build 207.
