This is the latest attempt to get drivers to swap to public transport. A cross between a bus and a tram, the service is to be known as FTR - short for future - and the vehicle is called the StreetCar. At nearly 20 metres long, the £320,000 machines run on dedicated road space and can turn red traffic lights green.
