It's not the first time Audi has done this; 14 years ago, a 100CS drove up the same 80 per cent gradient. And while the A6 hurtled up the slope in only nine seconds, thanks to its spiked tyres, engineers faced problems keeping the car stationary at the summit. A sledge-like steel base-plate was constructed to prevent the saloon from sliding backwards.
And if you think the stunt was a fluke, think again. Engineer Uwe Bleck completed the process 11 times during filming!
