Motorists' Messy Confessions

Six CDs, £5.29 in loose change, an air freshener, two old parking tickets and five-day-old food - that's what the average person has in their motor, according to a survey.

A staggering 80 per cent of drivers admitted to owning a 'cluttered' car, with most using theirs as wardrobes or make-up bags on wheels.

A spokesman for insurance provider Esure, which carried out the study, said: "It's clear people like taking some personal items with them in their cars."
