Koreans Back At The Double

Remember the Korando and Musso, the two SsangYong off-roaders sold in the UK market, then rebranded as Daewoos? Amazingly, these are the all-new versions.

04th May 2005

In our pictures, the Korando - which is badged the XCT - is the orange-coloured vehicle. With a bizarre mix of styling cues, the new model is similar to the five-door Citroen C4 in profile, although it features SsangYong's own distinctive front-end shape.

The silver car is the SV-R concept. Not to be confused with the MG Rover supercar of the same name, the large off-roader gives customers a good idea of what to expect from the next-generation Musso. That car hasn't been available in Britain since 2002, while the Korando was axed a year later. The models seen here were unveiled by SsangYong at the Seoul Motor Show. A third new machine also made its debut on the stands: a pick-up called the XMT.

SsangYong is launching the British-designed Rodius people carrier through its UK dealer network right now, but company bosses remain tight-lipped about whether or not it will be joined by the two SUVs. If the Musso and Korando are given the green light, buyers should expect to see them on British roads by the end of next year.
