The truck will hit showrooms here in August, although the current version will continue to be offered in basic trim. Expect a price premium of £1,000 for the newcomer, meaning the King Cab will start at around £18,500.
Meanwhile, the new Hilux goes on sale in October, with power from a 2.5-litre D-4D diesel engine delivering 102bhp. Buyers will be able to choose from two bodystyles, although the single-cab variant does without the novel four-door set-up of its Nissan rival. Imported versions from Thailand have already appeared in the UK, but vehicles officially destined for Britain will be built to a higher specification.
