Fresh Face For CC

This week's mag has the world's first picture of the facelifted 307 CC, revealing Peugeot's trademark 'gaping mouth' grille. As part of a raft of improvements, the new nose will spearhead the firm's attempts to rejuvenate interest in the 307 range. With coupé-cabriolet versions of the Vauxhall Astra, Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf all due next year, the CC needs to raise its game. In addition to the new grille, engines are likely to be updated to cut emissions and boost performance. Technicians are also expected to tweak the suspension.

Reliability is a key area for improvement on all revised 307s, after the current model came last in Auto Express's Driver Power 2005 satisfaction survey. Inside, equipment levels are set for a boost, while new trim will be available.

The 307 was launched in the UK in 2001, with the folding hard-top variant appearing two years later. The revised range will go on sale next year in hatch and estate guise, plus the CC seen here. We've learned the French company will wait until the all-new line-up appears in 2008 before adopting the 308 badge.
