AMAZING but true - the firm famous for its low-tech wooden chassis is experimenting with hi-tech fuel cells.
Worcestershire company Morgan is a key player in LIFECar, a ΂£1.9 million project to develop the world's first hydrogen-powered roadster. It's working towards a silent running, efficient, eco-friendly performance car that only emits water from the exhaust.

Based on the traditional sports car maker's Aero 8 - but with radical new styling - LIFECar is due for completion in three years. Charles Morgan, the firm's corporate strategy director and project director for LIFECar, said: "A sports car that is beautiful, great to drive and pollution-free is worth striving for." However, there are currently no plans for a production model.

The car maker has teamed up with Oxford University and energy giant BOC for the project, while the fuel cell that powers the car is the work of technology firm QinetiQ. The unit converts the naturally occurring element to create electricity, and that powers motors at each wheel.
