Danger wheels probe

Why do wheels fall off HGVs? The Department for Transport has asked boffins at the Transport Research Laboratory to find out in an official study. The organisation will be look-ing into how often these dangerous incidents occur, comparing data with that from other EU countries, surveying drivers and analysing current wheel-fixing standards. It is hoped that the findings will help reduce the current 3,000 cases a year.
