Wild Maybach hit road ahead of Essen Motor Show appearance
29th November 2005
Our images prove the Maybach Exelero has now hit the road. It was spied in Dusseldorf on a photoshoot ahead of the recent Essen Motor Show in Germany, and witnesses said the wild looks were matched by a fearsome sound from its 700bhp 5.9-litre V12.
Rumoured to have cost £1.2million to make, the Exelero was crafted by Turin coachbuilder Stola with money from Maybach and tyre giant Fulda - which has developed unique 23-inch low-profile rubber for the car. High-speed testing in Italy has proved the tyres are up to the job, too - the 2.66-tonne Exelero hit a 221mph maximum.
