Second-hand tyre alert

Part-worn tyres - rubber taken from cars on the Continent and resold in the UK - are a major cause for concern, says the Tyre Industry Council (TIC).

A survey of second-hand dealers carried out by safety experts found 38 per cent of the pre-owned tyres on sale did not comply with the correct industry regulations.
