Earlier debut for Civic Type R

It's hot and it's official! The Civic Type R will be back - and fans can catch a sneak preview of the new hatch in the spring.

The flagship was supposed to debut at the British Motor Show in July - because as with the standard car (below), the newcomer will be built in the UK. But bosses have pulled this launch date forward to March's Geneva Motor Show.

The revamped Type R will be assembled at the Swindon factory in Wiltshire, and arrives in showrooms here early in 2007. Technical details remain secret, but the model is expected to be powered by the latest generation of Honda's 197bhp 2.0-litre i-VTEC engine.
