Van man sits pretty as Transit goes for bold

This should be a pick-me-up for Britain's van drivers. It's the first official picture of the all-new version of the best-selling Ford Transit - and it's a very British affair.

16th January 2006

Designed, engineered and built in the UK, the Transit gets a modern face and car-like cabin. An imposing three-bar grille winged by huge headlights gives a modern feel, while inside the seats are more comfortable.

The 2006 Transit will be the first Ford van to use diesels developed with PSA Peugeot Citroen. Six oil-burners will be on offer, plus an LPG-compatible petrol. More than five million Transits have been sold worldwide since 1965 - 1.5 million in the UK. The van is on sale in June.
