Meanwhile, another Essex dealership has become the first-ever independent outlet to be awarded the brand new BSI Kitemark for garages. Ongar Bridge Motor Company is the third site in the UK to gain the fledgling seal of approval.

HOW'S this for a cheap compact family car? Deal of the week at car supermarket Motorpoint is an 05-plate Chevrolet Lacetti 1.6 SX with 10,670 miles on the clock. It's up for a mere £5,999 - more than £4,400 cheaper than its new price - and comes with air-con, alloys and a CD player.

The firm is also offering a variety of used Ford Fiestas. You can pick up an 05-reg 1.4 TDCi Zetec with 1,505 miles on the clock and air-con from only £7,599. Similar 1.4-litre petrol models in Ghia trim are up for £7,999.

YOU won't only find Mondeos and Astras at British Car Auctions. It recently sold a 1939 Chrysler Wimbledon limo (below) once owned by Who drummer Keith Moon for £7,750. A 1973 Rolls-Royce Corniche convertible was also featured. See www.classic-car-auction.co.uk to check out future classic events.
