Focus remains at number one

The Ford Focus smashed rivals in the sales stakes last month, with 6,889 finding homes. That's more than 2,500 ahead of the Vauxhall Astra (4,375), according to figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

The Luton firm's Corsa took third with 2,811 sales, and the Ford Fiesta (2,694) snatched fourth.

The top six was completed by the VW Golf (2,332) and the Peugeot 307 (1,889).
