Every year they do it and every year someone falls for it. Many car manufacturers can't resist releasing April Fool’s jokes in the shape of press releases - and some put in serious effort.

At first glance this image doesn't appear too ridiculous...but look closely and you'll see the twin side exit exhausts borrowed from the McLaren SLR. The RENNtech Smart 7.22 comes from one of Germany's top Merc tuning firms and pays homage to the SLR 722. Apparently, its “Go-eco" exhaust system ensures that emissions are a blend of pure oxygen and a potpourri of fresh lilacs and honeysuckle.
