Toyota’s new Corolla is set to be more daring than ever following a rethink prompted by the arrival of Honda’s radical latest Civic. But as our image shows, the designers have not gone to the extremes of their Honda counterparts, as they don’t want to alienate the Corolla’s existing loyal following.

The five-door variant seen here will be joined by a three-door and a saloon model. Designers have been a little more adventurous inside, giving the fresh Corolla a more distinctive look. The current car’s bland cabin will be replaced with one that draws on the latest Lexus designs for a more upmarket feel.
The new compact family hatchback is set to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September before going on sale next year.
