Cadillac engineers will be fuming with this spy shot
Meet a car which would probably fail an MoT, but not for its registration plate. With thick black smoke billowing from its exhausts, it would struggle with the emissions test!

In fact, Cadillac engineers will be fuming with this spy shot. It reveals their secret plans for a tax-busting diesel version of its new CTS. The range currently comprises only petrol options, and it really needs an oil-burner to compete with BMW and Mercedes rivals. But this doesn’t appear to be the cleanest unit on the market. While it’s common for diesels to give out some black smoke, the plumes seen here are exceptionally thick.

It looks as though there is plenty of work to do before this new derv V6 powerplant hits dealers in 2009.
