The wraps are almost off Cadillac's answer to the BMW 3-series touring.
These exclusive spy-shots are the first to reveal the firm's long awaited CTS estate, code-named GMX 206.

General Motors has revealed production of the newcomer is to begin in Spring 2009 - and Auto Express can reveal a new coupe version will be built alongside it.

The CTS will attempt to fill the gap in Cadillac's lineup which will be left by the SRX when it is discontinued in the first half of 2009.

Despite the front and rear disguise it is clear the forthcoming CTS will share many features with the SRX but differences such as the stretched air vents above the front wheel arches and the spacious interior and lower profile give good indicators of the direction Cadillac are looking to move in.

Initially GM have said that they plan on building somewhere between 10,000-12,000 units a year with and have said they plan on sending a significant portion of them to Europe.
