It's not due out until autumn but we've managed to get some exclusive shots of the Alfa MiTo arriving at the Nurburgring for some final testing.
The car will be based on the Fiat Punto platform and plans to employ the higher-level engines from the Punto range with outputs expected between 120 and 227 bhp, there are also going to be powerful diesel units available.
Despite its attempted disguise you can get a clear idea of the final design of the MiTo (named after Alfa's two home-towns, MIlan and TOrino). The front end is considerably shorter than the 149 which will probably make it a more popular choice for a city.
The sporty looking two-door hatchback is expected to be a serious competitior to the MINI and up-coming Audi A1.
