New Jaguar owner Tata has sent the handsome XK for an early facelift - and our spies have caught the fresh-faced big cat out testing.
Both the coupe and convertible get the update, which incorporates an array of updates inside and out, including new front and rear bumpers, revised air intakes and LED rear lights.
The XKR coupe we snapped in Austria - separated from lesser models by quad tailpipes - wears virtually no disguise but for a touch of silver tape underneath the headlamps to mask the tweaked bumper. A new, boot mounted 'shark fin' aerial can also be seen in front of the rear lip spoiler.
Driving dynamics are improved by way of a recalibrated steering rack and stiffer suspension, and the traditional automatic gearbox stick is replaced by the clever rotary dial transmission interface found in the XF saloon.
Meanwhile, sources suggest the convertible we caught in England could be housing a new V6 petrol engine, set to prop up the range beneath the current 4.2-litre V8 base model in both the coupe and open top variants.
The new XK is due to make its debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.
