Cadillac BRX

GM sends new Caddy SUV out testing

With so many manufacturers swathing their development prototypes in dull monotone cladding, it’s nice to see Cadillac making an effort with this, the new BRX SUV.

Based on GM’s Vauxhall Antara platform, which also underpins the forthcoming Saab 9-4X, the BRX mule our spies captured here already looks fairly menacing with its unique white and chequered highlights.

Set to rival the Land Rover Freelander and the BMW X3 when it hits showrooms in 2010, the BRX’s style is heavily influenced by the Cadillac Provoq concept, the electric-hybrid SUV crossover vehicle unveiled earlier this year.

Bosses at GM hope the BRX will play a key role in enhancing the luxury status of the brand in Europe, so expect a premium price tag somewhere in the region of £35,000 – still undercutting the larger Escalade SUV by some margin.

And the exclusive interior shot we bagged shows that the cabin takes a significant leap over Caddys of the past, with a neat centre console straddled by vertical air vents.

The BRX will be officially unveiled at July’s London Motor Show – and for a chance to be there and see it for yourself, make sure you take advantage of our amazing three-for-two ticket offer for the show.
