Dressed from head to toe in rubber, this is Toyota’s Corolla Verso replacement – the new Auris Verso, caught testing by our spies.

Since 2004 the Corolla Verso has held its own in the competitive MPV sector, offering a good alternative to people carrier’s such as the C-Max and Touran, but the aging Toyota is well overdue a rework and here it is. Likely to be called the Auris Verso the new MPV as the name suggests will share a lot with its equivalent hatchback.

The Corolla Verso replacement is also expected to adopt a very similar range of petrol and diesel engines to its hatchback sibling. However, judging from what’s visible in these pictures, the exterior appears to mimic the design of the future Avensis more than that of the current Auris.

It has also been rumored the Auris Verso may simply be called the Verso, as production of the Yaris Verso stopped in 2006 and the Avensis Verso is quite unlikely to get a successor.

There is no specific launch date for the Auris Verso yet, but is expected to be sometime in the first half of 2009.
