BMW’s baby SUV takes first steps

BMW is hoping for big things from its new small 4x4. This spyshot is the first to reveal the showroom-ready X1, which will share much of its engineering with the forthcoming MINI Crossman.

It was snapped by an eagle-eyed reader during a brochure photoshoot for the car in Germany, and reveals that the shape and much of the detailing remain faithful to the X1 concept displayed at the Paris Motor Show last autumn.
