After fourteen years, Volkswagen has finally decided it’s time to update the Sharan MPV.
The new and improved Sharan is expected in 2011 and the car it replaces will be bigger in every direction. This is for two reasons – to keep up with rivals from Renault, Renault and Vauxhall and also as a way to keep the current generation Sharan on sale for a while longer as a smaller model.
Other cars in this segment come with wide opening doors for rear passengers, whereas the Sharan will come with a large sliding door on either side.
It’s expected to be powered by a range of petrol engines (from 117-200bhp) and a line up of diesels (up to 160bhp).
A source close to the project confirmed the newcomer will also revealed that the newcomer will cost quite a bit more than the current car, partly to separate the two in the range, and partly to cover higher building costs.
