Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 spied

Lamborghini's secret new Gallardo LP550-2 has been caught testing in Italy

30th June 2009

Lamborghini is returning to its rear-wheel-drive roots.

The Gallardo LP550-2 is a hardcore, driver focused, rear-wheel-drive version of their entry-level model.

These spy shots show the LP550-2 sporting a new front and rear bumper to differentiate it from standard Gallardos. It will also feature an all-new rear-diffuser to help keep the rear wheels on the ground.

550-2 breaks down as 550bhp and two wheel-drive, which means the new Gallardo will get a slightly de-tuned version of the ‘standard’ car’s engine. But, this doesn’t mean it’s slower…

Lamborghini are working to make the LP550-2 as light as they can get away with, which means there’s no push/pull paddle shift – only a gated manual.

The boys in Sant’ Agata are only going to make about 250 Gallardo LP550-2s, so expect a price tag north of £150k… We’ll tell you more when we know it.
