Megane CC

Renault's Megane Coupe is about to go topless! These latest shots show a heavily clad prototype of the French firm's upcoming convertible which was expected to be unveiled at Frankfurt last week.

However, the unveiling of the car, known as the Megane CC, is reported to have been delayed so as not to dilute the 'green' message that Renault established by announcing four zero emissions, electric vehicles.

Despite not giving much away about its appearance it's speculated that the CC will share the same front fascia as the Megane Coupe but will get a stretched rear end to accommodate the hard-top folding roof. The roof itself will feature more glass than previous models for a more light and spacious looking cabin.

Power will come from many of the same engines as its coupe sibling ranging from the 'eco2' labelled 86hp turbo diesel to the 180hp TCe petrol engine. Reports also suggest that a biofuel powerplant will also be on offer.

The new convertible is expected to make it's official debut just before summer 2010 at the Geneva Motor Show.
