Nissan Qazana

Snapped prototype is easily recognisable as Nissan's eye-catching cross-over

Nissan's quirky-looking Qazana is being readied for production, and these are the pictures that prove it!

Despite the heavy camouflage it's clear that the bulbous, rugged looks from the Geneva Motor Show concept are set to return on this eye-catching cross-over.

The aggressive front end, dominated by a mouth-shaped grille and two large headlights can just be made out in these pictures. Also immediately obvious is the low, raking roofline and short overhang at the front and rear.

Reports suggest that inside, the Qazana will take its styling cues from the striking interior that featured on the concept. That means we can expect to see a motorcycle fuel tank inspired centre console and protruding dashboard.

There's no word yet on pricing or release dates but it's likely that we'll see the Qazana make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March next year.

It looks cute. do the doors open automatically from the remote or will it have door handles? I would like to see more information/specifications. But it looks interesting!

Nissan build cars that real people can afford and drive!

The success of Nissan in the last 3 years or so is not a coincidence but the result of a lot of real hard work. The latest Nissans are both very good looking, practical and economical cars that are affordable and real family cars at the same time.

They are not intended to be DTM or Formula I junior racing cars that go from 0 - 100 MPH in 5 seconds or corner at 90 MPH on wet roads with only 15 MPG!

The Sunderland plant is one of the most efficient automobile works in Europe - Herr Zetsche at Daimler AG would be pleased to have such a super plant in his group - and with very high quality build levels confirmed by warranty analysis and comparisons due to the close working to-gether and monitoring of their suppliers etc.

We can be very proud of the Sunderland plant, its dedicated staff and its great products.

Well done Nissan!

Nissan off track trying to pander to a less discerning customer base?

While you are right, at the same time there are a few angles I feel you get wrong. Firstly, Nissans have been (mostly) this good for ages !! In fact, I rather think it's much a case of bad badge-image that lots of folks in the UK underate them, also the stupidest marketing schemes by Nissan UK-to wit bringing in basic-spec (underpowered, ordinary level) models of mainstream cars -Primeras,Almeras especially- while far better versions/models exist globally. If you've ever driven a PulsarGTI-r, SkylineGTR,350Z or even a PrimeraGT,you'd know what I'm talking about. Nissans are all the above, but even more greater as driver-focused,engaging performance machines-which brings me to the second point - to quote "not intended to be DTM or Formula I junior racing cars that go from 0 - 100 MPH in 5 seconds or corner at 90 MPH on wet roads with only 15 MPG! " By any measure this is exactly what Nissan is best at and what it's known for everywhere else (except here in old blighty for crying out loud!) .
So going as they (Nissan UK) are now doing , concetrating THEIR ENTIRE UK-LINEUPon pointless SUV's, Micro/City cars (pico, micra, juke anyone) or even more pointless 'crossovers (juke, note, qazanna, etc), I cannot help but wonder whether they have not really 'sold out' to their real long term customers (read proper fans of Nissan Skyline, Silvia/200SX, Primera, Almera, 'normal' bodied cars,all-round great performance). It also questions what brand-image they are now trying to create- a creator of odd-ball inconsequential (even though certainly mass marketable) run-abouts of serious pedigree-backed timelessly elegant all-rouners full of the old sports performance +hightech+topreliability winning DNA? Can't for one see this at all in the UK mix ,sorry- and it's not Sunderland's workers fault,
even as they put in such dedication and work.Just hope someone up wakes up and sees the point before it's too late to recover.
