Is the new Jetta ready for take-off? These images have appeared on the internet, showing what appears to be Volkswagen's Golf-based saloon undergoing hot-weather testing in Death Valley in the US.
Heavy camouflage at the front hides what will most likely be the nose from the MkVI Golf and a glimpse of the rear lights reveals a set of Audi A4-inspired lamps that should give the new car a sportier and more aggressive feel than its predecessor.
Where previous models have been criticised as dull and uninspiring,
Volkswagen will be looking to make the new Jetta as exciting as its
hatchback sibling and the updated styling is just one way to do it.
Underneath the new body, the Jetta will use the chassis from the MkVI Golf, giving the new saloon accurate steering and a comfortable ride, ensuring a more driver-focused experience.
Power will come from a range of Golf engines, including 2.0-litre petrol and diesels plus a 1.4-litre TSI.
Reports suggest that the all-new Jetta could be unveiled at this month's Detroit motor show with a release date scheduled for the summer.

"Volkswagen will be looking to make the new Jetta as exciting as its hatchback sibling"
Exciting?
I assume that it's hatchback sibling is still the boring old Golf, and not something like the Honda Civic or Alfa Guiletta...
How much, exactly, does VW pay AE for this type of propaganda?
Even though this car is covered in black vinyl, It looks as dull as dishwater. And I speak as a VW Fan! Hope they do something with the production model to change the shape and liven it up.
