2009-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Cam belt tensioner failure almost resulted in belt failure had I not stopped when it sounded wrongauxillary drive belt rib separated and entered engine via crankshaft oil seal resulting in near catastrophic oil loss, cam belt and camshaft pully damage.noisy bearing in gearbox and occasional sticking in 1st gear.premature rear wheel bearing wear.windscreen wiper linkage failure.oil leak from brake vacuum pumpas yet, unidentified oil leak. Fuel consumption is pretty good for the type of use my car gets. dealer servicing is expensive, but it's the breakdowns and the costs associated with them that drags the score down.

This has been a great car for the money, under £6,500. Some of the plastics are a bit cheap and the drivers seat has worn in a hole, but all the important bits, engine, bodywork etc have been first class. I do all the maintenance myself, because the dealer prices are just too high. In summary I would buy another Nissan, it has been the best new car I have ever had, but it won't be a Micra because I now need a larger car.

2009-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Despite full dealer servicing cam belt tensioner failed at 70,000 miles, wiper linkage at 84,000 miles, alternaor drive belt split and entered engine via cranshaft oil seal at 130,000 miles. Fuel consumption is good, parts and servicing could be cheaper but that's what you get for main dealer servicing I suppose. relaibility shortcomings and costs associated with breakdowns drop the score from 4 to 3.

This small diesel engined Micra does what it says on the tin no frills robust low cost motering wiht good residual values approx £1200 value drop in first 11 months overall mpg approx 55 no disturbing problems parts for service available at resonable cost petter screwed together than renault sister

Would have scored 5,but a front wheel bearing went at 1500 miles, therefore replaced under warranty .must have been a dodgy manufacture which you can't blame nissan for. I recently covered 1300 miles on holiday, driving to royan and back.very economical considering higher speeds on french toll roads.

It's no secret that old Nissans keep on going. The trick is to keep servicing them. I have never had a car as reliable as this one and although it is old it is certainly still in very good shape. Its also very economical and cheap to service and insure. Loose change running costs !

The car is parked on the driveway, and there has never been any trouble starting it, even in the depths of winter. The car was serviced in november 2012 by petch the main dealer in durham. the only other running costs are checking oil and windscreen washers.

Never thought about it, we have always driven nissans and never been let down. Again never thought about it, we fill it with petrol and average 50 mpg which I monitor via spreadsheet after every fill.

As I have had 14 Micras, that surely must say that I am very satisfied,
Only the Road Licence gets me very annoyed, just because the car is a 1.4 automatic, I am charged top price for a licence.

it does what it says on the tin... a good small second car, great for economy and driving to and from work. Four doors is good - although a bit small to get a whole week's shopping.

It doesn't break down ( just as well as I could not afford to repair it ). I am of poor health and income therefore I only use the car to get to hospitals and doctors 4 miles away.

Wwe have had no break downs since owning the car nor any trouble starting her on cold, freezing or snowy days. We get a good rate of mpg, and spare parts are not overly costly.

Always swiitches on, needs very little between services. I wish it were cheaper to run - I'm often in heavy traffic, which uses up the petrol.
