Overall Average Rating: 85.13%
Position in the Top 100 cars: 56th

While 23rd overall for comfort and 36th in the running costs category are decent positions, Nissan’s neatly styled soft-roader is far from the finished article.

The Sunderland-built machine has been a big hit for its maker, but 90th in the performance ranks and 86th for build quality suggest that Nissan needs to make the Qashqai more fun, and a lot more robust.

Manufacturer Verdict (Position: 26th)

No change for Nissan, which is 26th for the second year running. Given how many SUVs it builds, a mid-table running costs result is superb. But it needs to improve in all areas to shift up the chart.

Needs the 6 speed gearbox as 5th is usable from around 31mph, so pretty revvy at motorway speeds, bootlid needs to go up higher so you don't hit your head, plastics are cheap and mark from the slightest touch. Other than that a decent car for the money, easy to drive and capable of handling the lumpy, bumpy rural roads where I live.

Okay but the wing mirrors stick out too far for the rural roads of Sussex and Somerset where the bulk of my driving is done. Other than that please with the car and the garage.

Ideal for a pensioner who wants a car that is easy to get into, needs room for grandchildren and space to take things to the Recycling Centre.

A good (not great) family car. A lot of equipment for the price and has individual looks but lacks a premium car feel (like a VW Golf)

Looks fantatstic and handles well for a car of its size. The 1.6l petrol engine struggles when there is more than 2 people on board.
