Pricing and full UK specs for the new Peugeot 508 SW have been announced. The brand’s all-new estate is available in five trim levels, with prices starting from £26,845 for the most basic Active model, climbing to £38,020 for the range-topping GT model. The UK will also receive 75 First Edition variants, priced from £40,819.

The French firm’s latest estate was first unveiled at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. It gets the same squat stance as the 508 Fastback, and its design is almost identical from the nose to the B-pillar. Styling revisions fall in line with the brand’s new saloon, while its suspension sits 60mm lower than its predecessor.

New Peugeot 508 SW review

As standard, the base model Peugeot 508 SW comes with a set of 17-inch alloy wheels, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a multifunction steering wheel, automatic headlights, a DAB radio and a choice of either an eight-inch or ten-inch infotainment system, with support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Mid-range Allure models start at £28,145, adding active suspension, blind spot detection, keyless entry and go, electrically adjustable front seats and a 180-degree reversing camera. GT Line models are priced from £29,895 and come with self-levelling LED headlights, fresh rear lights and customisable ambient lighting.

The range-topping Peugeot 508 SW GT is priced from £38,020. Features include a set of diamond cut 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, leather upholstery and a premium stereo system by the French speaker brand FOCAL.

As with the 508 Fastback saloon, Peugeot has also released a launch edition variant of the 508 SW, based on the GT trim level. Prices start from £40,819 and, for the money, buyers get a unique set of 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a gloss black grille surround, automated parking assistance and a choice of two unique metallic paint colours.

Inside, there’s blue mood lighting, a black roof lining, a 360-degree camera, a wireless smartphone charger, carbon fibre-style trim and Nappa leather upholstery in either black or red. The 508-litre boot also gains a Zebrano wood-finished floor with grip bars, while the digital gauge cluster is fitted with an infra-red night-vision system (a first for its segment).

The 508 SW's 530-litre boot is 30 litres smaller than before and 130 litres down on the class-leading Skoda Superb Estate, although the ‘Magic Flat’ seats fold flush at the flick of a switch, and create 1,780 litres of space – the same as in the Volkswagen Passat Estate. The limited boot space is a sacrifice Peugeot decided to make for a sleeker exterior design.

Six engines are available for the 508 SW, with buyers given the choice of three diesels and two petrols. The range opens with Peugeot’s 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel, which produces 127bhp. A 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel unit is also available in two states of tune, producing either 158bhp or 178bhp.

Peugeot’s turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder PureTech petrol is available with either 178bhp or 222bhp. The entry-level diesel gets a six-speed manual, while the rest of the range comes with an eight-speed auto. A plug-in hybrid variant with an all-electric range of 32 miles will also arrive by the end of the year.
