Tyre shine

Quick and easy – there’s not much not to like about tyre shine which puts the finishing touch to car cleaning. It is also easy on the pocket but you want that new tyre look to last and not disappear in the first puddle so we put on 16 to discover which was top of the finishing school.

Like CarPlan’s Wonder Wheels Tyre Slik’s wins in this category run in to double figures and when you use it, it is easy to see why. Just spray and leave application puts it a step ahead of the gels but despite this it really lasts repelling grime and maintaining a clean look for weeks.

If anyone is going to steal Tyre Slik’s crown it has to be Simoniz as its products take both the commended awards here. This New Look version of Back to Black showed its class at the end of our three-week test as rivals started to struggle giving little sign that were still there.

It is hard to tell Simoniz’s two tyre shines apart but whichever you choose you’ll get some serious stamina. Like its stablemate, there were more effective rivals early on but as the going got tougher so the Simoniz pair starred keeping their sections cleaner than any of the other treatments.
