Hands-free kit
We rate hands-free phone kits for safety, comfort and performance.

We put together a massive test of 24 devices for this safety critical category. There are two styles - speakerphones (tested here) and earpieces (reviewed here). Several included new features like hands-free dialling, but we wanted the basics to be right, too. We assessed ease of pairing, broadcast and reception sound quality on the move, plus comfort for the earpieces.
Our winner
Jabra EasyGo
Price: £29.99

Easy on the pocket and easy to use – this is a winning combination for Jabra’s EasyGo, which puts many more costly rivals to shame. It also provided one of the clearest sounds on test, with great noise cancelling. Comfortable, secure and even worked with our phone’s voice dialling.
Commended
Jabra Wave
Price: £59.99

The Wave locks out the top two spots in the earpiece section of the test for Jabra. Its sleek design integrates the boom mic with the ear hook. Despite having a slender design, it still features proper volume and call buttons. A great all-rounder – just not worth twice the price of our overall champion.
Motorola T215
Price: £39.99

Our pick of the visor-mounted solutions. The Motorola is bigger than most rivals, yet this means you get large, easy-to-find controls. Sound on both ends of the call impressed. While competitors offer more features, at this price, the T215 is impossible to beat.
Samsung HF1000
Price: £27.95

Another budget speakerphone, but the Samsung scored with great sound quality, both transmitting and receiving – albeit trailing the Motorola a little. Metal clip provided a secure mount and we liked the large buttons. Capable and at a great price.
