Legislation will outlaw detectors which spot laser or radar-based speed traps later this year, but locators still thrive, and have been joined by systems incorporating satellite navigation.
All units now use Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites to locate you, and a database to find the traps. False alarms are irritating, so we wanted our system to spot only cameras which affected us, and not those for oncoming traffic. GPS also had to be swift and accurate, and the database up to date. We took into account cost, including subscription, for our contenders.
