It’s not hard to like the Route 66 planner, as it’s nearly as easy to use as Microsoft’s AutoRoute. Maps can be exported to hand-held devices, there’s a global positioning facility and free traffic info for some countries. It found all our locations, but took 45 seconds to plan the route, and only had five-figure postcodes. Despite that, it’s a worthwhile buy
