For Maglite looks without the price, try this aluminium alternative – although it can’t match the build. The thread for the battery case was starting to foul and the casing was marked out of the packet. It comes with a handy cord, positive on/off switch and the bulb is easy to get at. But the adjust­able beam isn’t great and light spread is poor.
