The attractive price soon looked less of a bargain as we started to put this set together – or not, as the pieces refused to click into place. Fix one section and another would move apart. However, it worked the first time we put an F1 racer on the track. They were nippy, too, but not quite so detailed as the Scalextric GP versions (below). And Carrera misses one of the main advantages of digital sets by including only two cars.
