Winter tyres

Text: Kim Adams Date: October 2007

These should really be called cold weather tyres, because there doesn’t need to be snow on the ground before they give motorists an advantage over
conventional rubber. When temperatures drop below seven degrees Centigrade,
they provide better traction on wet roads. Most major tyre manufacturers produce a range of winter rubber, and they are usually priced around 20 per cent higher than standard versions.
