Minimise the risk of a collision on winter nights by upgrading your headlamp bulbs. After all, a car’s electronic safety kit will be no help if you can’t actually see the road ahead! The latest advances in bulb technology have seen huge performance gains even over those supplied in new cars. Some bulbs now claim to offer as much as 90 per cent more light 75 metres ahead of the car – exactly where the driver needs it. But they were outshone on our test, as one offering 80 per cent more from Philips took the honours.
