Celsus iPod Integration

There are plenty of aftermarket head units that can be linked to iPods and other MP3 players, yet if you want to stick with your car’s original stereo, the choice is more limited. But now, audio giant Celsus has a new option.

Its iPod integration systems work with most makers’ set-ups, but are particularly attractive for VW, SEAT, Audi or Skoda drivers – as they can be used alongside a remote CD changer rather than instead of it.

We tried the Celsus in a 2004 Beetle. Installation was simple, as it simply plugged in between the head unit and standard loom: we only had to find an earth. With an iPod connected we could select music from the player itself or the stereo. On this car’s tuner the choice was limited to the first five playlists, and they weren’t identified, but later units with track display would show names. Working from the player was faultless and the sound was clear and rich, plus it charged the iPod. The Celsus range is compatible with the Apple iPhone G3, too.
