Halfords Exodus 360L roof box

Loads on offer in bargain box

July 2009

With the holiday season on the way, now is the time to invest in a roof rack and storage box to ensure none of your summer essentials get left behind due to a lack of boot space.
This compact new Exodus 360L from Halfords is the smallest box in the firm’s range, but we still found it big enough for our test kit. Fitting was easy, thanks to the quick-locking feet, which will be familiar to anyone with a Thule roof box. This is because the Halfords line-up uses many of the same components as previous boxes from the Swedish brand.
As the Exodus 360L is half width, it can be placed centrally or to the side on your car – helpful if you also want to carry a bike on the roof. The box’s light weight also means it’s a breeze to move around on
the bars. On the road, we did notice a few small rattles, but this was because the fittings needed re-tightening. This was easily done.
Thanks to the aerodynamic design, there was little wind noise. However, there was some whistling at motorway speeds.
Overall, it looks good and is well priced – although one of the brand’s larger boxes would be better if capacity is key for you.

*Problems? Will be too narrow for some bags, slight wind noise.
*So why buy? Very easy to fit, looks attractive and is keenly priced.
