Vespa GTS 125 Super scooter

Drivers’ boost as scoot cuts power

July 2009

A new 125cc engine has turned down the power on Vespa’s most gutsy scooter – and made it more accessible to motorists looking to cut their commuting times!
Previously, the GTS Super only came with a 300cc unit, so drivers had to pass their motorcycle test. But to ride the new 125cc version, they need only complete their compulsory basic training (CBT), for around £90.
The Super shares the steel body with the existing machine, while the chrome trim and single headlight design are carried over, too. But the new engine should be far more economical. Vespa claims the Electric Cooling System (ECS) absorbs less energy than on the 300cc scooter. This boosts mpg, and takes service intervals up from 6,000km (3,728 miles) to 10,000km (6,213 miles).
Start-up noise is cut with a new oil-bath freewheel system, and transmission cooling is improved. Offered in yellow, white or black, the £3,399 GTS gets a two-year warranty.
