Quad bikes are more usually associated with riding off tarmac, but the new dedicated on-road Cectek Quadrift aims to be more accessible to commuting motorists looking to cut their journey times.
Rideable on a standard driver’s licence, the 500EFI has a lower seating position than most quadricycles. Its clutchless CVT transmission is teamed with a 20bhp 497cc engine, and it aims to deliver car-style comfort with quad speed.
A clever differential, which converts from limited-slip to locked at the touch of a button, works with fully independent four-wheel suspension to give supercar technology for less than £6,500. And the addition of disc brakes, a reduced centre of gravity, street wheels and low-profile tyres should ensure the qaud is good to drive, too.
Legally you don’t need to wear a helmet for the two-wheel-drive machine, but it’s advisable, as it can hit 0-40mph in less than 5.2 seconds. A 1,310mm width means weaving through traffic will be hard, but a 19-litre tank and four-wheel stability make it an attractive prospect.

Excellent Fun through Rain or Shine!
Do you have to be sitting warm inside a car, breathing in the recycled carbon monoxide that sits in your cabin space? Not when you get on a Quad Bike or ATV.
Some people enjoy sitting by the fire, feet up with a cuppa and the daily gossip - whist others race home from work to sit in the shed and build something useful - which side of the fence do you live?
Me? Get me in the shed any day of the week, as long as there is a Quad Bike involved !
