Wide cradle meant this Halfords easily dealt with the chunkier mobiles on test, but tiny pads did little to cushion our phone when it was in.

The extendable arms gripped well, though, and didn’t press the devices’ side buttons.

However, we struggled to get our thumb under the suction release, and the wide cradle didn’t hold our slimmest phone.
