Built by Gerlux, the Autolamps bulbs claim to last 50 per cent longer than standard ones – not quite as much as either Philips product, but they look a real bargain.

Our samples were pretty consistent, indicating good build quality, and they served up a similar beam output as a decent standard bulb.
