As one of only two eight-inch wrenches on test, Maplin’s Rolson looked a possible candidate for the podium, thanks to its extra leverage.

However, the hard handle and difficult-to-read scale hinder it in this company, and the jaws displayed some wear marks after only a few turns.

While the extra power meant we were able to undo all our test bolts, it couldn’t beat the AmPro or Clarke for comfort.
